This is my latest little gnome, done in the colors of the progressive pride flag for my son, who’s part of the community. I named him Härve Mjölk… the closest I could get to a Swedish name (since gnomes are Nordic). The name is in honor of Harvey Milk.
I used this pattern from Pampino Crochet, just the latest of several of hers I’ve done. I love her gnomes!
I did make some modifications:
- I used an I hook instead of a C for a bigger boy.
- I changed out a few colors to allow for all the colors of the progressive pride flag.
- I didn’t brush out the beard because we liked it curly.
- I used a different cloud applique just because it was a little bigger.
- I used a folded pipe cleaner in the tip of the hat to give it some strength.
The yarn list:
- Caron Simply Soft in grape
- Lion Brand Basic Stitch in baby blue, baby pink, black, red heather
- Lion Brand Feels Like Butta in white, yellow
- Lion Brand Heartland in grand canyon
- Lion Brand Skein Tones in nutmeg
- Red Heart Soft in tangerine, guacomole
